The American Legion Riders of Cicero Post 787 was established on March 12, 2008. ALR is a National organization, which is part of the American Legion Family. There are strict guidelines for membership. You need to be a member of an American Legion post as a Legion member, Auxiliary member or Sons of American Legion (SAL) and you must own a motorcycle or be the spouse of a member in good standing in the above mention Legion affiliates. The ALR is governed by the By-laws established by the National American Legion Riders, which coincide with the American Legion guidelines. It is a group of motorcycle riders that meet the requirements for membership. Meetings are organized and are run by a Board of Officers. Currently we have 77 members. We also have support members who do not ride a motorcycle.
ALR Post 787 has accomplished many things over the last five years. Participating in charity rides and community centered rides such as, Children's Miracle Network, Vietnam Wall Escort, Watch Fire at State Fair grounds, Thunder in the Forge, Wounded Warrior, Rolling Thunder, 9-1-1 Foundation Ride, Ride for the Cure, Thousand Island River Run just to mention a few.
